Kathryn A. Bamford, Ph.D. received her bachelor’s degree at The Johns Hopkins University. She completed a master’s degree in Clinical Neuroscience at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and received her doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology from the State University of New York at Buffalo. She completed her Clinical Internship at the University of Rochester School of Medicine. Dr. Bamford has conducted research in the areas of cognitive neuroscience and cognitive impairment in neurodegenerative disorders and aging. She also has experience in the areas of mental health crisis intervention and psychological assessment for public safety officers. She has been in private practice since 1997 and is currently the managing partner of Rochester Psychological Associates. Dr. Bamford works with adults addressing adjustment difficulties through all adult life stages, depression, anxiety disorders, stress management, and coping with chronic illness and disability. She also works with couples facing marital and family problems. Her psychotherapeutic approach is insight-oriented and cognitively based with an emphasis on personal growth, development of efficient strategies to handle life’s stresses, and mindfulness. She is available to attorneys requiring psychological consultations for their clients. She is a member of the American Psychological Association. Dr. Bamford also serves the community as an active member of the Massasauga Search and Rescue Team as a K9 handler.
