Our practice is dedicated to providing excellent psychotherapy to our patients. We can usually schedule you for an intake appointment within one or two weeks. If you want to work with a particular provider, the wait may be longer depending on their availability. We collaborate with your primary care physician as needed. Kathryn A. Bamford, Ph.D.

Dr. BamfordKathryn A. Bamford, Ph.D. received her bachelor’s degree at The Johns Hopkins University. She completed a master’s degree in Clinical Neuroscience at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and received her doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology from the State University of New York at Buffalo. She completed her Clinical Internship at the University of Rochester School of Medicine. Dr. Bamford has conducted research in the areas of cognitive neuroscience and cognitive impairment in neurodegenerative disorders and aging. She also has experience in the areas of mental health crisis intervention and psychological assessment for public safety officers. She has been in private practice since 1997 and is currently the managing partner of Rochester Psychological Associates. Dr. Bamford works with adults, from late adolescence to seniors, addressing adjustment difficulties, depression, anxiety disorders, stress management, and coping with chronic illness and disability. She also works with couples facing marital and family problems. Her psychotherapeutic approach is insight-oriented and cognitively based with an emphasis on personal growth and development of efficient coping strategies. She is available to attorneys requiring psychological consultations for their clients. She is a member of the American Psychological Association and the Public Service Division of the APA. Dr. Bamford also serves the community as an active member of the Massasauga Search and Rescue Team and through her work as a therapy dog handler.

Laura C. Brewer, Ph.D.

Dr. Wright-KnotheDr. Brewer completed her undergraduate degree with honors from Indiana University and her Ph.D. in counseling psychology from the University of North Texas. She did her internship at the St. Louis Veteran’s Affairs Medical Center followed by a fellowship in behavioral medicine at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri. She completed a second fellowship in marital and family counseling at the University of Rochester. Dr. Brewer specializes in adults with ADD, individual therapy, and marital therapy. She works with individuals who are experiencing symptoms of depression and anxiety. Dr. Brewer is a member of the American Psychological Association and is a licensed psychologist in the state of New York.

Kathleen Wright-Knothe, Ph.D.

Dr. Wright-Knothe Dr. Wright-Knothe completed her Ph.D. in psychology at Western Michigan University in 1985. She completed a 2-year fellowship at the Pain Treatment Center at the University of Rochester in 1994. She specializes in Cognitive Behavior Therapy. This approach helps people solve their current problems with and modify their unrealistic and mood dependent thoughts. Dr. Wright-Knothe focuses on using treatment methods that have been shown through research to be effective. The specific interventions vary according to the type of problem (e.g., depression, Panic Disorder). She also frequently incorporates mindfulness practices in working with her clients. Dr. Wright-Knothe is a member of the American Psychological Association, the New York State Psychological Association, and the Genesee Valley Association. She is married and has three children.
